For at least the past year, GameStop and its subsidiary ThinkGeek have partnered with DC Comics to sell a wide variety of Jim Lee-branded merchandise.  Since 2019 is Batman's 80th anniversary and since Lee illustrated Jeph Loeb's Hush, one of the most-acclaimed Batman stories ever, GameStop commissioned a series of exclusive statues based on Lee's depictions of Gothamites.  Batman, Catwoman, and Joker were based on their appearances in Hush.  Batgirl is based on a splash page from All-Star Batman & Robin, The Boy Wonder.  Harley Quinn is based on Lee's cover for Rebirth Suicide Squad Issue 4.  The statues share a common circular base.

I went to a local GameStop store today and picked up Batgirl, Batman, Catwoman, and Joker.  It appears that Harley Quinn has not reached many stores yet, though she's available online.  I am reviewing Batgirl first for several reasons.  One, she's my favorite comic book character.  Two, she's not from Hush, so I wanted to assess her separately.  Three, she's the most complex of these statues in terms of design, engineering, and articulation (specifically, her Batline).

The packaging is rather basic, though I prefer the use of one plastic window instead of Diamond Select Toys's four plastic windows, which make a box structurally weak.  The statue is made of plastic and comes in two pieces.  A metal peg at the bottom of the left foot is inserted into the wall/chimney in order to display the statue.  I measured Batgirl's height from the head to the left knee and then added the length of the lower leg.  She's about 6.7-inches tall, or 5-foot tall "in real life".  (This version of Batgirl is still a young teenager.)  She's on the small side, almost to the point of being a scale smaller than the Hush statues.  The statue's overall height (to the top of the cape) is 11 inches.

The QC is excellent, with clean molds, clean painting, and no apparent excess glue.  The bottom of the base is a foam pad, so the statue won't scratch your display surface.  The Batline is a metal wire that can be extended forward to mimic Batgirl throwing it as she leaps from building to building.  You can even see a Batsymbol at the end of the Bathook.  I think Jim Lee meant for the charms chain to be attached to the belt, though on this statue, it is loose and can be removed.

Batgirl is so well-balance that she can be displayed without the base!

This has been a great year for Batgirl statues, and any serious Batgirl fan should buy this ASAP.
