As a group, the Cover Girls by Joelle Jones are my favorite set of themed statues.  Therefore, I'm rather sad that there will be only two more to go after Black Canary (Helena Bertinelli Huntress and Wedding Dress Catwoman).  Artist Frank Cho and sculptor Jonathan Matthews are in charge of Wave 5 starting in February, and I've already decided to pass on their collaborations based on the solicited protos for Batgirl and Supergirl.  (Supergirl's face sculpt in particular looks gross to me.)

I got this statue a couple of weeks ago but returned it because it was defective.  The back of the left sleeve on the jacket was chipped near the shoulder.  The right thumb had too much paint.

A replacement arrived today, and while I have some quibbles with it, I've accepted that it'll be my least favorite Joelle Jones Cover Girl.  Hey, I like it more than the Bombshells Black Canary and Artgerm Cover Girl, lol.

I'm surprised that the hair doesn't have much detail since the Artgerm Black Canary's hair did, and Jack Mathews sculpted both statues.  The leather straps on the jacket and the shoelace ends on the boots are made of plastic.  They have some "give", though I'd avoid playing with them lest they fall off the statue.

Black Canary looks like she'd be about 9.5- to 9.75-inches tall if she were standing straight.  This translates to a real-world height between 5'6" and 5'8".  She seems small next to Joelle Jones's Wonder Woman and Mera, though those characters are often depicted as being taller than most other women.

If you're a fan of Black Canary for whatever reason, I think you should get this statue.  However, I suggest seeing her in person at a store if possible to ensure that you get a decent copy.

DC Collectibles Designer Series Wonder Woman by Jenny Frison Statue Review

When the Jenny Frison statue was announced, the Designer Series already had two Wonder Woman statues -- an upsized version of the Adam Hughes Cover Girl and the Frank Cho.  The Cho statue features the Rebirth costume, as does this one.  Comparisons were inevitable, as was the question, "Do we need another 1/6-scale Rebirth WW statue from the same company so soon?"

You'll have to answer that question for yourself, though the Frison statue is pretty different from the usual DC Collectibles WW statues.  She's carrying a spear instead of a sword, and she has a cape.  Moreover, even though the Rebirth costume is based on the DCEU Gal Gadot movie costume, Frison and sculptor Jack Mathews took the costume back to the source and paired the body armor with the boots that Gadot wears in the DCEU.  Even the colors are muted like on the movie version.

The Frison statue comes in four separate pieces: base, body, right arm with spear, and left arm with shield.  The arms attach to the body via magnets.  The spear pole is hollow, so you probably don't have to worry about the arm drooping over time due to weight.  There are pegs at the bottom of the right foot to connect the body to the base.

The final production piece is a bit changed from the proto.  The proto had finer/longer hair strands, darker skin tones, and non-webbed fingers.  The face sculpt may've been a bit different as well.  YMMV, but I think the final production piece is an improvement upon the proto.  I wish that the cape had been made from cloth so that one can move it out of the way to admire the sculptwork from all angles, but as it is, the sculpted cape is quite nice.  (Mine has a right eye that's cut a bit deep near the bridge of the nose, but it's not something I'll see unless I'm holding the statue right in front of my face.)

My favorite Rebirth WW statue is still the Joelle Jones Cover Girl, but the Jenny Frison is a close second.  Please enjoy my unboxing pix!  ^_^
