A Jack Mathews sculpt of a Bruce Timm Batgirl cover should've been an easy win for DC Collectibles.  Unfortunately, the company does business with a variety of factories that range from great QC to seemingly no QC at all.  For the past two years, the Batman Batman & White and Harley Quinn Red/White/Black lines have suffered the most.

Original proto attached to base with a triangular footpiece

Batgirl is my favorite comics character, so I try to get every decent-looking statue of hers.  Alas, this one is extremely problematic.  I've seen copies with poor molds, sloppy paint, badly-glued gloves, air holes -- basically, any problem that comes to mind, this statue suffered.  I practically gave up on adding this statue to my collection until I saw it for $20 at Walmart.com.  I ordered two, knowing that the odds of getting a decent one were slim.  It's a good thing that I did so because one of them arrived with a heavily scratched base and a damaged fin on her right gauntlet.

The second statue in my order is not perfect, but for $20, it's an acceptable addition to my collection.  It took me about eight online orders to get a statue that wasn't defective or damaged in transit (because Amazon doesn't put any padding inside ridiculously oversized shipping boxes).

The sculpt captures Bruce Timm's artwork really well.  I'm glad that the pole was designed to attach to Batgirl's back instead of to one of her legs.

I know that several StatueForum.com members have expressed interest in a 1/6-scale version of this statue, but I imagine a larger version might be even more fragile than this one.  However, now that DC Collectibles seems to be serious about releasing more full-color Designer Series mini statues, it would be nice to see a full-color re-paint of this statue -- with better QC.  Redeem yourself, DC.

With Batgirl of Burnside

With the Paul Dini version of Harley Quinn
