Like many, I've had a tough past couple of months, which explains why I haven't posted anything since August / September of last year.  Also, after AT&T bought Time Warner, DC Comics got rid of its DC Direct / DC Collectibles division.  As such, DC is no longer offering its own statues, action figures, and other memorabilia.  The new management structure has even impacted DC's relationship with Diamond Select Toys, to the point where affordable-but-still-high-quality statues based on DC characters probably won't be made for a while (at least until the COVID-19 pandemic is "over").

I gave myself a break from my daily responsibilities and decided to type a review of the Joelle Jones Wedding Dress Catwoman statue.  This might be my last "new" DC Direct statue since I'm not a fan of the Frank Cho Cover Girls statues (which were sculpted by Jonathan Matthews instead of the long-time Cover Girls sculptor, Jack Mathews).  Because the COVID-19 pandemic impacted manufacturing and shipping around the world, this statue barely made it into the hands of retailers.  As far as I could observe, only Sideshow Collectibles and Big Bad Toy Store received any inventory amongst the major online retailers.  (According to eBay, at least some people in Italy got their hands on it.)

The statue is based on designs created by artist Joelle Jones during the Rebirth Batman comics run up until the Batman-Catwoman wedding didn't happen in Issue 50.

So, what's the statue actually like in hand?

The base is stored in the "top" half of the Styrofoam brick.  Aside from re-using existing molds, I'm not sure why they carved Joelle Jones's signature into the base because the dress covers most of the base surface anyway.  Also, the pegs should've been inside the base, with the peg holes in the dress instead.  That way, we would have the option of displaying the statue with or without the base.

You're going to notice that the face doesn't look like the proto piece on the box art, and the earrings are larger than the proto's, though they match Joelle Jones's original design.

The level of detail is quite impressive when you consider how difficult it must've been to paint the lacework, especially the parts that blend black with flesh or black with white.

The Joelle Jones Cover Girls are my favorite statue line.  I think this was the first time that DC made two statues of a character other than Wonder Woman or Harley Quinn in the same line.

Unfortunately, DC didn't make a Joelle Jones Poison Ivy statue, so I'm going to display the Designer Series Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn Couples statue next to this one.
